Android 4.2 V1.6 Firmwre update Instruction for Teclast X98 3G Firmware

Teclast X98 3G is a Intel 64bit CPU super Pad. It has 9.7 inch 2048*1536 pixel definition retina display with 2GB RAM and 32GB on board storage. It supports WiFi, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth and more!

How to upgrade:

1).Download the upgrade tool and driver to your windows computer – Teclast X98 3G flash Tool and Driver, and extract the downloaded file “X98_3g_tool_driver.rar”, you would see 4 files. Please install below applications strictly follow below order (please DO NOT change the default installation path):
1. iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.0.4.exe
2. IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0.exe
3. ManufacturingFlashTool_Setup_6.0.30.exe
4. After the above applications installed, please copy file “CUSTOM_CONFIG.INI” to C:\ProgramFiles\Intel\Manufacturing Flash Tool
2).You should then see the flash too shotcut in the computer desktop;

3).Please double clik the icon to run “Manufacturing Flash Tool”. After it is opened, click “File — Settings” on the top left. Please make sure the tablet is charged. Then please make sure the tablet is off (you can long press the power on button to force shut it down if it is not able to turn off normally). Now hold the volume + and volume – buttons, and do not release, at the same time, press the power on button until the tablet is light up. The tablet would go to DNX mode and would stay at Teclast LOGO. Then please connect the tablet to the computer. It would install the driver.
4).In the computer, please navigate to “Device Manager” (you can go to there by right mouse button on “My computer”–properties–device manager. And find “Android ADB Interface”;

5).Right button on “Android ADB Interface” and choose “Properties” — “Details”;
Choose “Hardware ID” on properties to see the values of  VID and PID.

6).In the settings of “Manufacturing Flash Tool”, please change the values of VID/PID under SOC Devices to the number you see in step 5.

7).Please disconnect the usb connection of the tablet and turn off the tablet again. Now hold the volume + button and power on button until the display lights up, the tablet would go to Droidboot mode. Then connect the tablet again with computer.
8).Open Device Manager in the computer and find “Android ADB Interface”.

9).Right button on “Android ADB Interface” and choose “Properties” — “Details”;
Choose “Hardware ID” on properties to see the values of  VID and PID.

10).In the settings of “Manufacturing Flash Tool”, please change the values of VID/PID under Android devices to the number you see in step 9.

11).Now click “Apply” save the settings of “Manufacturing Flash Tool” and close the Flash Tool.

12).Download the firmware of X98 3G – Teclast X98 3G Android 4.2 V1.6 Firmware, and extract the downloaded file “X98 3G Android4.2.2-V1.16.zip”. Open again the “Manufacturing Flash Tool”. In the tool, choose “File”–“Open” in the top left . Please choose the file “flash.xml” extracted and click open.

13).Disconnect the tablet with computer. Hold the volume + and volume – button, then hold the power on button at the same time until the tablet lights up. When the tablet goes to Teclast logo, connect the tablet with the computer. The tool would auto start to burn the firmware.
14).Wait until the tool shows 100%, then the firmware is sucessfully installed. Disconnect the tablet and close the flash tool, turn on the tablet and start to use it!

After that, you can now turn the tablet on. Some tablets would change back to default Chinese language. Please find the settings icon and click. Find the language settings menu, which usually starts with letter A and click. Then choose the right first line, it will show all languages available to choose from!
Different tablets might have different settings icon, but all of them are quit similar after click!
